The first step in marketing is to capture peoples attention so you can build an audience. There are 3 main channels to collect an audience online.

Whichever route you’re taking, you have one focus: capture their attention either by promising a dream outcome (solving their immediate desire) or shocking them out of their deadpan scroll.

Curiosity is all about peaking their interest with something of value. Usually a lead magnet. A lead magnet is something that is a free gift, but solves a small problem. Some great lead magnet options are:

A limited quantity of items for free

Effectively communicating your lead magnet’s value creates curiousity (thus convincing people to take advantage of it) is paramount, so here are the 4 core pieces that need to be in your communication.

Dream Outcome (what’s the end result that fulfills their dream)
Perception of success (how likely are they to succeed, did others succeed)
Delay or Time to result (how long will it take to see the result if I take this action)
Perceived sacrifice (what will it cost them - time, money, etc)

Creating a connection...

Building a connection with your prospects is the secret to longevity. This is often referred to as Lead Nurturing for good reason. You can effectively nurture your leads by creating content that solves small problems consistently. This can be done using multiple channels:

Email series
SMS nurturing
Remarketing

A connection is not built with generic cookie cutter content, but stories, personal antidotes, and giving a part of you away in the communication. Communication without connection is useless.

Finally, let's talk Commitment...

Getting a commitment...

Getting a client to commit is a whole lot easier after they like and trust you. This phase of marketing is all about your offer. How are you shaping your offer to position you or sales team in a way that guarantees success.

Here is the basic structure of an offer

What is their dream outcome? What will their life look like after taking your offer? [Dream Outcome]
Who is the ideal customer? [audience]
What challenges do customers face trying to reach this dream outcome? [obstacle]
How else could they solve these obstacles? What would that cost them? [cost]
How do you solve this specific obstacle? [solution]

Put it all together in a one liner offer. For example, let’s say you’re a health consultant. You might have an offer that is focused on saving time shopping as a pain point.

Your offer might look like this:

Creating A Context Database

The best kept secret in generative AI is a context database. This sounds super techy, but it can be pretty simple depending on your needs.

At the core a context database is just a bunch of information that gives the AI something to emulate, to base it’s deliveries on, and to flesh out unknowns about certain tasks.

Without a context database your prompts mean nothing, your content is JUST like everyone else's.

A context database can be as simple as a PDF document you upload when you start a new chat with the AI. This PDF can contain things like:

Your audience
Your website
Your business mission/vision
The tone of your branding
What’s the story behind the business

Essentially any information that would enrich the content being produced and making it truly unique from the millions of other pieces of content being produced.

You can add written documents (things you’ve wrote before), photos, videos, etc to your context database, but these are often harder to get into a format GPT likes, unless it’s a simple PDF.

We use this simple format to build effective prompts:

We explain who the AI is replacing/impersonating
We explain what the ai is doing with the information/context database we gave it.
We explain exactly what we expect the outcome to be and in what format we need it.

As clear as you can be about the delivery the better, sometimes we even create an example delivery (like article format) and tell it to follow that format. (this would be considered part of a context database)
